Device not connecting / not detected

The usual cause is that your iPhone and Fire TV are on different networks. Check that both use the same Wi‑Fi name — some routers split 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into separate names. After confirming, run discovery again in the app. Also enable Local Network for the app in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
Your TV may have received a new IP address from the router. Restart the Fire TV, wait until it is back online, then try again. If it keeps happening, restart the router or assign a static IP to the TV in your router settings.
Disable any VPN or proxy on the iPhone and scan again. On your router, turn off “AP isolation,” “client isolation,” or “guest network isolation” if those features block devices from seeing each other on the same LAN.

Permissions

Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, find SM Fire TV Remote, and turn it on. Without this, the app cannot discover devices on your home network. It does not grant general internet access beyond what the system already allows.
Open Settings, scroll down to the app, and review its toggles. You can re-enable Local Network and other permissions there; changes apply immediately.

Wi‑Fi, VPN, and public networks

Most VPNs send traffic through a remote server, which breaks local discovery. Turn the VPN off while pairing or controlling the TV. Some VPN apps support split tunnelling — you can try excluding our app if your provider offers it.
Many shared networks isolate clients so phones and TVs cannot talk to each other. Use a personal hotspot or home Wi‑Fi where both devices are on the same unrestricted network.

App behaviour

Update from the App Store, force-quit and reopen, then restart the iPhone. If it still crashes, delete and reinstall the app. Your data isn’t stored on our servers for core remote use.
Weak Wi‑Fi is the common cause. Move closer to the router, reduce interference, and prefer 5 GHz when both devices support it on the same SSID.
Close unused apps, check router load, and free up storage on the phone if you are critically low on space.

Subscriptions

In the app, use Restore Purchases and ensure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to buy. If it still fails, email support@sagemodestudios.com with your receipt.
Subscriptions are managed in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Details are on our Subscription info page.
